We are looking for a life scientist (PostDoc, m/w/d) who shares our enthusiasm about “Fetomaternal immune priming in the context of chronic diseases” and who is eager to join the Global Health community in Germany

Our profile

Our team is committed to basic immunological and applied translational research in the field of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and the impact of environmental exposures on immunity, which are major topics in Global Health development. Specifically, we are eager to enhance our understanding of the developmental influences of environmental conditions in early life and align our research with the field of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). The main goal of the project that you will mainly be working on is to develop a better understanding of environmental factors that impact the developing immune system already in utero, such as epigenetic imprinting in hematopoietic stem cells, within a DFG-funded consortial project with partners from the Global South.

Your profile

  • PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biotechnology with outstanding result in the field of basic and/or translational immunology
  • Intense knowledge of multidimensional FACS analyses
  • Work experience in mouse models and basic knowledge of bioinformatics are desired
  • Enthusiasm for translational science embedded in the Global Health arena
  • Excellent team spirit, presentation, and communication skills

Your tasks

  • Refinement of multidimensional FACS pipeline (Cytoflex, CyTek) mainly of human (cord) blood cells
  • Development of scRNA/ATAC Seq analysis pipelines (in-house collaboration and with Z platform/CRC355)
  • Development of immunology teaching modules for collaboration partners in the Global South
  • Development of new proposals as well as clinical studies with our clinical partners at TUM university hospital
  • Supervision of PhDs and MScs working on topics of fetomaternal immune priming
  • Contribution to the TUM Center for Global Health activities (e.g. workshop organization, reviews)
